A Note from the President...
Richard Neroni

As president of a national home design and manufacturing firm for over 35 years, I have constantly been observing changing trends and preferences. While some past trends have been short lived and quick to lose popularity (think shag carpet and the "McMansion"), the new trends I've seen over the past year leave me with a much better feeling. In fact, I'm happy to see these new trends and it is my sincere hope that they won't just be fads, but will become more the standard. These include:
1) Smaller homes with a more efficient use of space - see the story of a recent home in Wisconsin,
2) Homeowners replacing old inefficient homes and re-building homes with better insulation and more comfort - see the featured home story.
One trend in timber frame design and building that has not faded over the years, and I don't expect will, is customers who build homes that reflect their hobbies and lifestyles. Whether it is including a timber framed winery (as in the story featuring a timber framed winery in California), an art studio, or a game room, timber framing itself is an art form and when surrounded by a beautiful frame people tend to become inspired and motivated. The saying goes, "Home is where the heart is," so I suppose that it is fitting that it also be where the hobbies are. I hope you enjoy reading this newsletter as much as I have enjoyed being involved in making these stories happen. Best wishes.
